Moderators & Commands

logo'Commands' can be entered into the text chat to alter your own interface or the meeting in some way. A chat message is prefaced by @@ to identify it as a command rather than a message. For example sending @@help using the public text chat would open the command help page in a new browser window.

logoA Moderator (the booker by default) has many more powerful commands available to them during the meeting. These commands can be entered either into the public text chat to target all connections, or a private chat to target just one specific connection.

logoA Moderator can also enter some commands using buttons rather than text:

moderator plinth

The moderator plinth.
This appears on the 'flash' tab if you are a moderator of the meeting.

• The 'C' button opens the moderator administration command bar.

• The 'V' button opens the moderator broadcaster's volume control over the broadcast image area.

• The 'M' button opens the moderator control window in a new browser window.

• The 'H' button opens the moderator command help page in a new web browser window.

The moderator administration command bar.
Use the up and down arrows to choose a command and the 'send' button to send it. Use the radio buttons to choose commands that target yourself or everyone else.

If it gets in the way at any time, you can drag the bar to reposition it, minimize it, make it translucent, or close it.

command bar

volume control

The moderator broadcaster's volume control.
This displays the mic gain setting for the connection broadcasting at the time.

Drag the button to remotely alter the current broadcaster's mic volume.

Note: This effects the volume heard by all other connections, not just you.

moderator control window

The moderator control window.
Each panel displays the individual connection's mic gain (which you can change from here whether they are broadcasting or not) and three buttons that will return useful information about the connection in the text area next to it. Click the 'command' button to open a sub-panel containing some commands including the powerful 'disconnect' and 'ban' commands.

If available, you will be able to click the button to make a registered user a moderator for the meeting. You can subsequently remove moderator status using this button.

The 'Send To All' button at the top opens a panel of buttons that provide access to powerful commands that target 'all' connections of the meeting, rather than the individual connection of a panel.

Note: If you close the FM meeting window during a meeting, also close this window and re-open a new one from the new FM meeting window. Also, only use this window if you have a powerful machine and no other Flash apps. using lso running.

private chat window

The moderator private chat window.
If you are a moderator for the meeting, when you click on a thumbnail, a 'command' button will appear at the top left of the larger image that is shown. Clicking this will open up a slightly different version of the private chat window. If you just want to chat privately, click the 'chat' button at the bottom of the image to get the larger text area.

The upper part of the moderator's version of private chat contains a smaller version of the normal private chat area, the lower part contains some useful commands and the connection's microphone level. Drag the slider to change the microphone gain (whether the connection is broadcasting or not).

The three square buttons provide useful diagnostic information. The 'Toggle Broadcast/Queue' button starts or stops the connection broadcasting (or enters it into the 'queue' if there is already a broadcast). 'Make Interrupt' forces the connection to broadcast. 'Set as a moderator' sets or unsets the connection to 'moderator' status. This may be unavailable depending on the connection's 'Sign In' status.
